Colorado's congressional redistricting commission debuted the "starting point" congressional district map, with eight districts instead of seven and that will be altered and adjusted over the coming months.

Initial reports look like Perlmutter's district will be move further south, making it more competitive with the addition of conservative voters in Douglas County. Looks like Boebert's 3rd district will become more conservative.

Colorado’s redistricting commissions will be touring the state in July and August, looking for your input on the congressional and legislative maps they’re redrawing.

Starting on July 9, the commissions will hold public meetings where anyone is welcome to tell the commission how they think the map should be shaped.

Two closest as of now:
7 p.m., July 20: Lakewood Cultural Center Community Room, 470 S. Allison Pkwy, Lakewood 80226
7 p.m., Aug. 4: Golden High School Auditorium, 701 24th St. Golden 80401

Here’s where a preliminary map places Colorado’s new 8th Congressional District
Nonpartisan staffers unveiled an early map proposal Wednesday to the Independent Congressional Redistricting Commission. It’s based on 2019 population data.

The 7th District, centered in Jefferson County and currently represented by U.S. Rep. Ed Perlmutter, an Arvada Democrat, would shift south to include Castle Rock, dropping some of Denver’s northwest suburbs, including the bulk of Arvada.

Perlmutter, however, would remain in the 7th District under the preliminary map, though only narrowly — by about 50 yards.

The new 7th District looks to be the most competitive of the new map.

Please correct me, it is my understanding from the map that JeffCo would have a larger section of the 7th district. Perlmutter will still be the Representative until at least the 2022 election Does this proposed 7th district encompass all of JeffCo?

Yes, most of Jeffco would be in the 7th. The only parts that are excluded I’ve circled here (unless there’s a piece down south I couldn’t see chopped off) from the map above:

"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther

I like this idea. Boulder and Denver get their own district, why not Jeffco?

Does JeffCo by itself have the population numbers to qualify? If so I second your proposal.

Note that the NW portion of Park county was transferred into U.S. Congressional District 2, which is the Boulder district represented by Joe Neguse.

It doesn't look that way on the first map. District 2 is north of Park County. Were you thinking of Gilpin?
