DNC Wants to Control Your Private Conversations Now

Now you're qualifying it Rick - either a text message is a text message and they should be kept private, or they are subject to accountability. You can't pick and choose which way you want it just because you agree with one instance and not with another.

I wasn't arguing one way or the other BB, I was pointing out the double standards - Rick had no problem with the FBI agents' texts being revealed to the world, but thinks "private texts should NEVER be available to anyone but those who are involved in sending or receiving." Page and Strzok were lovers, and their stupidity (in addition to cheating on spouses) was using government-issued phones for personal messages. Would it be okay that ALL government-issued phones are subject to discovery and publication? Consider the ramifications of that carefully.

Even if Strzok had remained on Mueller's team, what would it have mattered if there was no evidence found proving Trump did what he was accused of? What matters are the facts, and innocent people shouldn't fear investigations being conducted.

My last paragraph states loud and clear what I think should be done. I think emails and texts should only be revealed per a judge's orders for an investigation into criminal activity, and anonymous dumps onto the internet or by newspapers, without any other corroboration or investigation, is wrong.

I find it disheartening that the reason this effort by the DNC even came to pass was never brought up and discussed, for it points to the deeper rot in some in the Republican Party that science, facts, and people's lives don't matter, only fear-inducing clickbait headlines and outrage for social media clicks and fundraising. It is not okay that elected officials spew lies that are causing more death and misery. People need reassurance from their leaders that these vaccines are safe and everyone who can should be getting them. They should be doing outreach with community leaders in under-vaccinated communities in their districts, as the Biden administration is, to empower trusted local leaders to allay distrust and increase vaccination rates.

I admit that I’m struggling to come up with an analogy that would shed some light on the sheer insanity of this moment.

Try to imagine, for example, a campaign to mock attempts to improve airline safety in the wake of a crash that killed hundreds. Or try to envision a political class that would ridicule and undermine engineers who were trying to shore up the foundations of condominiums in Florida in the days after a horrific building collapse there.

None of that, however, even comes close to the genuine depravity of the current burst of performative anti-vax demagoguery we are seeing right now.
