This issue has been covered a lot lately in the media and is a big effort at the federal, state, regional, and local level in government, but oddly I hardly ever see anyone in the general public/on social media discussing this at all. So, this topic will be where I'm going to share what I find because this is a complex problem that is affecting us all and will continue to worsen as the effects of climate change deepen.
If this is a topic that interests you, please feel free to add sources as well.
The Colorado River is the nation's most endangered waterway as climate change and overuse threaten its future, according to a new report.
Why it matters: The river provides drinking water to 40 million people in seven states and 30 tribal nations, not to mention it drives the region's agriculture and outdoor recreation industries.
Threat level: The Colorado River is "ground zero for the climate and water crisis" in the West,
according to the report
released Tuesday by American Rivers, an environmental advocacy group.
"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther
The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it. ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. ~Winston Churchill
The Farmers almanac said something like, Colorado is going to be in the hibernation zone with lots of snow and cold this winter.
Too bad that almanac is less accurate than me with a golf club.
I have seen the Royal Gorge recently and it bummed me out. Hopefully this turns around soon.

TURNS AROUND SOON?,.Just how do u believe that will happen? Wishful thinking is oh so WASTED, it requires ACTION..climate change manifesting in a million different ways...YET, fossil fuels r the answer to to all the world woes. OUR species never learns, except thru HARD, and harsh lessons....Water is Gaia's
great gift. We have squandered it and NOW u (collectively) see the stupidity of our species.
This s THE THIRD La Nina in a row. I believe what the Almanac is saying is WINTER Dec.21srt thru spring will be cold and snowy,(one can only send strong vibs to the universe for that to be correct).
I was waiting for that response HA, I thought it may take a little longer.
Could you point me to a factual article that could educate me on how fast the problem would be solved by converting Americans to energy that does not require hurting the earth in other ways? For example, how many tons of earth must be displaced to make the average EV battery and how much “dirty” energy is required to make each battery and then to charge each battery for the lifetime of the battety?
Here’s some of my other questions:
How long will it take to bring the water back if we are all converted to non-fossil fuel energy?
How will the US citizens pay for the conversion?
Where is the proof that our conversion will make a difference ( look up John Kerry’s quote about this) ?
Will hurting the poorest people with an expensive conversion be worth it?
If you don’t think the poor will suffer the most, please explain why they won’t.
I think those questions are reasonable and the answer to them can not always be “well, we have to do something”, because I’ve tried that in my own life without a well thought out plan and it’s never served me very well.

Come on HA, at least give me a link to what you’re talking about. I’m old and my memory sucks so I can’t remember every thread and every conversation within those threads.
If you can find the thread(s), please highlight at least one part that answers even one of my questions.
I’d really like your take as well if you’d be willing, SC. I just want someone to point me to the sources that clearly explain how we can afford to convert, how that conversion will eliminate the need for fossil fuels, and how that conversion will make a big enough difference if the rest of the world does not do the same.
I still say that if we are forced to eliminate fossil fuels across the globe that it will result in millions but more likely billions of deaths in the long run. I’ve never seen the plan that included real numbers, just what the end result will supposedly be, which is not a plan, it’s just doing something and hoping it works.

MAJOR point...Nuclear fusion and it's slow development, IT could be expedited,IF the\ one percent prioritized it ....U pointed out that a theme of domination was in play.
Yes, I would like to see something like nuclear fusion actually working and implemented. Which of the politicians who are pushing to eliminate fossil fuels are advocating for that? What’s happening is the usual jumping before looking to see what the landing looks like.
My feeling, based on what I read and hear, is that the means of getting to “zero emissions”, which is impossible, is to just start making fossil fuels more rare, inaccessible, and expensive. They believe we will all line up to convert our homes and our cars even though the majority of us don’t have the means to do so.
Back to the number one question… where does the money come from and how much will it take?

Based on archeology, this region has been very dry in the past too. What happens to the region if this is the start of another one hundred year drought in the Southwest.
