Last last final final House Speaker Thread

3. The odds of a shutdown could go up

The next speaker has a monumental task in front of him that has felled more-experienced leaders of the Republican Party — uniting the party to avert a government shutdown in just a few weeks.

The last House speaker, Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), lost the top job after he negotiated with Democrats just to pass a temporary spending bill that kept the government open through mid-November. Johnson picks it up from here.

We don’t know what’s going to happen next. PER THE ARTICLE.....

U think this is going to MIRACULOUSLY MAKE Nov. a new model of co operation? How sure r u about that? Placing bets???? an abysmal assumption....JMO

Democrats could have avoided Johnson's promotion if they had only agreed to vote for Speaker McCarthy. They chose instead to "F" around and find out.

Yep, the Dems made it possible for the most conservative speaker ever to be elected. Gotta love it!:cheer:

Ken Buck said that Johnson was picked because he had the least number of enemies. That's exactly what a worthless moderate would say.

It was always the women, and above all the young ones, who were the most bigoted adherents of the Party, the swallowers of slogans, the amateur spies and nosers−out of unorthodoxy

But Buck did vote for him. Maybe the GOP threatened him with no financial support in 2024?

Ken Buck has opposition in his re-election bid for CD-4. Trent Leisy, a businessman in the district. Very conservative and as I mentioned previously with Ft. Collins carved out of CD-4 and moved to CD-2.
CD-4 is rural with Loveland and Castle Rock being the largest cities in the district. I would not be surprised to see him retire and go to CNN, Fox, MSNBC, etc as a talking head.

That didn't take long.
Ken Buck announced that he will not seek re-election.
Does anyone want to make book on which Network he will go to work for?
I see him joining CNN, odds 70-30.

Addendum:
Kay Granger (R-TX) has also decided to not seek re-election. She was facing stiff opposition after being the ringleader leading the opposition to Jim Jordan in his bid for the speakership.

Great news… two worthless “moderates” self flushing themselves.

Perhaps Buck will team up with Liz Cheney and do a road show. I wonder why Pelosi did not put him on the Jan 6th committee?

Would you prefer Buck winning reelection or the Democrats gaining another seat in the House of Representatives?
