MTG and Boebert can call for replacing the speaker at any time. That's power. They have used their "Freedom Caucus" (if ever there was a misnamed group, that's it) to stop legislation that doesn't kowtow to their demands. That's power.
You probably haven't heard, but Rapist Trump already has a plan in place to fire the majority of career civil servants and replace them with loyalists. Traitor Trump also has a 6-3 majority in the Supreme Court, so that's in his pocket. 91 Times Indicted Trump may very well have both houses of Congress, should he win in November. Twice Impeached Trump can't be dictator because of checks and balances? Yeah, Criminal Trump has done illegal things before, so I'm not putting it past him to try. Remember, he tried to stop counting legal results of a free & fair election and have himself installed as President.
Polis has stated that an election for filling the remainder of Buck's term will be held along with the state primaries on June 25th. The Republican and democrat candidates will be chosen by nominating committees of their respective parties. The winner of that election will fill the remainder of Buck's term. I think that Bobert would have to resign her seat in CD-3 in order to run for the CD-4 seat.
The composition of the nominating committee, at least on the Republican side, deserves scrutiny.
Rep. Boebert has announced that she will not participate in the election to complete the term of Ken Buck. She will continue to campaign for the CD-4 seat in the general election. She pointed out that in order to run in the interim election she would have to resign her CD-3 seat and that would leave CD-3 without representation until the next H of R is sworn in, Jan 2025. In addition that would cut the already slim Republican majority in the House.
The Republican party has chosen Greg Lopez to be their candidate to finish Buck's term. Lopez positioned himself as a placeholder and will not be a candidate in the general election in November.
Interestingly two candidates for the general election asked the Republicans to nominate a placeholder candidate. To date they are the only two candidates that have qualified for the primary thus far. And they are the only two women running, Boebert and Flores.
