Once again, a bipartisan bill was negotiated in the Senate and sent to the House, where Republicans killed it.

Why didn't the House pass that bill, rather than do absolutely nothing?

Why would anyone who want's the flow of illegals to stop be ok with allowing 5000 a day under that garbage bill? Doing "somethingf" isn't any good if you allow 5000 a day before you decide to close the door.

Illegals. I just luuuuv how you throw that around. They are immigrants, like your ancestors and mine, who came to this country seeking a better life. But you dehumanize them by calling them "illegals."

Look at it another way, Rick. Look at these immigrants as a new labor force that might help with the shortage in the workforce. Dish washers, cooks, laborers, crop picking, janitors, all those low skill jobs that people like you don't want to do. They would be contributing to the economy while filling a need.

But no, you've got to be afraid of something, outraged at something, so you pick on these people that come from many different countries, seeking a better life. They come to America because we are beacon of hope and opportunity, trying to get away from oppressive governments, seeking to live the American dream.

That's what America was built upon, but your fear, and your apparent need to demonize those people, keeps you from seeing that they can be a resource. Put them to work and they will grow the economy, buy houses, build houses, pay taxes. Stop being so short sighted.

The Republicans had passed a much stronger anti illegal immigration bill last year and Schumer's Senate refused to even vote on it.

K's carefully doctored media feed "forgot" to tell her this. Or did she just ignore this factoid?

The Democrat talking points are we offered a truly crappy immigration bill that gave tens of billions more to corrupt Ukrainian oligarchs than actual border security needs.

What is more important? The Ukrainian/Russian border half a world away? Or the open border that has let in seven million illegal invaders since President Biden was elected?

Rick used the term illegals, the formal term is illegal aliens as noted in Federal statute.

Section 1252(c) of the "Aliens and Nationality" laws is titled: "Authorizing State and local law enforcement officials to arrest and detain certain illegal aliens." The section authorizes state and local law enforcement officials "to arrest and detain an individual who— (1) is an alien illegally present in the United States.

As expected the left argues from their emotions not facts.
" Put them to work and they will grow the economy, buy houses, build houses, pay taxes."

Evidently these guys found a way to grow the economy.
An undercover human trafficking operation in Florida found that 21 illegal foreign nationals were using papers given to them by the Department of Homeland Security to fly to major cities in the United States for free to engage in sex trafficking, Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said.

The majority of these immigrants are applying legally. Most come through ports of entry. Some come in between ports of entry, which is illegal. Most are apprehended and then processed. The vast majority of immigrants are coming to America and then applying for asylum because of the conditions in their country of origin.

The bipartisan bill negotiated in the Senate provided for additional funds to help with the influx of immigrants, but yeah, instead of actually doing something, the House decided to play politics with an issue.

Yes, the Biden Administration is doing whatever they can to make them "legal". Giving them work permits, etc. Even flying in more than 200,000 at taxpayer expense.

A few times on my flights back from Puerto Vallarta, families of illegals are put on our flight first. One time they didn't speak English or Spanish so the United flight crew had to board them just with hand signals. Undoubtedly "asylum claimants" like those Boston brothers who attacked the marathon with IED's. Great to know what our taxpayer dollars are "accomplishing".

No joke.

Many immigrants that come through ports of entry are legally applying for asylum.

The immigrants who enter America between ports of entry - illegally - most are caught and then apply for asylum.

There are some who enter illegally and are not caught.

I’m still waiting for someone to tell me why allowing 5k illegals a day somehow makes for a good bill.

Now Haiti has become a failed state as gangs seize the airport. President Biden will start offering asylum to hundreds of thousands of them.
