Should lying in a campaign be purjury?

I just hear lie after lie from both parties, okay gross distortions, why not make campaign statements from candidates be subject to perjury? Not promises just distortions of reality.

Would either clean up the campaigns, or eliminate all of the candidates.

Like the old Truth in Advertising law? It would be Truth in Politicians, kind of an oxymoron, wouldn't you say?

YES. Lets make it a capital crime to run for office. That way only the most patriotic would run for office.

There was an opinion column about this in the Denver Post this weekend and the author says it is actually illegal to lie in campaigns in this state. Might be tough to prove.

The one I hate right now? Where the Dems from out of state call Buck too extreme. Their is a big difference between what a man believes and what he will actually be able to do in the Senate. If Obama had his way in the Senate, we would have socialized medicine since he said he wanted it in America when he was a Senator.

I would not consider a campaign promise perjury ( just trying), but lying about the record of the opponent and their own background.
Yeah some truth in advertising bar, like any business would have to do. Then we may hear more about what they want to legislate rather than negative ads.

Won't most politicians burst into flames if they tell the truth?
