Actually, it began about 1:10 p.m. when I called 911 to report the guy. As I drove by, his car had apparently conked out and he was throwing rocks at it, like he was mad about it. They didn't send a deputy right away because, by the time I got to near Safeway I saw two county patrol cars with a car pulled over and they didn't look to be in a hurry to move. By the time I got to Parmalee Gulch I saw a CSP trooper going WB with red lights and siren.
The location was actually closer to Pine Junction than Shaffers Crossing.
According to the title, he was throwing rocks at more than his own car, to have hurt a deputy. We all know that VL is loony, but this sounds like more than just a tantrum over a car breaking down.
Sometimes talking to you is like talking to a brick wall.
I'm not saying the article is wrong. I'm saying it started a half-hour before the off-duty deputy happened by and a half-hour before he threw rocks at other cars he started by throwing rocks at his own car. I saw him get out of his car that quit on him and start throwing rocks at it. It escalated from there. Anyone who throws rocks through the windows of their own car is batsh*t crazy
Chances are it wasn't the throwing of the rocks that got him in trouble, it was where they landed.
