The funny thing about that video is that the train personnel actually thought they were doing a good job. Most people would gladly get stuffed into a train car provided they get their hand out from the government to pay for their house and food. Meanwhile producers get taxed.

Think about it: The always hurried and frantic inner city New Yorker produces only 1/3 the CO2 of a mellow suburban Washingtonian, simply because s/he doesn't have to drive across town for every little haircut. And before you say it's impossible to change Washington D.C.'s urban infrastructure, just take a look at what has been accomplished in places like Vancouver, Curitiba, or Freiburg.

If refusing to live in fear is sticking my head in the sand, then yeah, I'm guilty. I'll bet every time they raise the threat level you run to the basement and hide. Fear is paralyzing.....nothing gets accomplished. The difference between liberals and conservatives, here at least, is the liberals look for ways to improve our lives and deal with reality. Conservatives look for ways to dismantle all the gains this nation has made and put the fear of God? Whatever? into the people, turning them into sheep. You would rather see America/Obama fail than work to make this country better. Liberals are about creating, conservatives about destroying.

And yes, that is one broad brush I am using, after seeing all the hate-speech posted this morning it's justified.

Deep-seated political differences aren’t simply moral and intellectual: They’re also biological.

In reflex tests of 46 political partisans, psychologists found that conservatives were more likely than liberals to be shocked by sudden threats.

Accompanying the physiological differences were deep differences on hot-button political issues: military expansion, the Iraq war, gun control, capital punishment, the Patriot act, warrantless searches, foreign aid, abortion rights, gay marriage, premarital sex and pornography.

"People are experiencing the world, experiencing threat, differently," said University of Nebraska political scientist John Hibbing. "We have very different physiological orientations."

It's easier to manipulate a frightened populace.

I'm almost feeling sorry for you. I keep thinking, "Can she really be that brainwashed...or ignorant?"

The point being made is big picture. Way too many people believe America will always exist as an independent nation, simply because it always has...for as long as we've been alive. However, we are very quickly becoming outnumbered on this planet and if we stay on the recent track of weakening ourselves from within, it won't take much for those who hate us to decide they're gonna challenge us on our own soil. The non-military challenges are already happening and we're looking pretty vulnerable to the rest of the world.
