What if there is no God?

Reality? You assume there is some great entity out there trying to teach us concepts we have no ability of understanding based on what precisely? You speak of superstition and fantasy and try to dress it up as reality. It's not. Death is a fearsome topic. It's not surprising that we seek to soften it, but we simply have nothing other that wishful thinking to lead us to believe there is anything afterward.

Ants are liberals anyway. They all work for the greater good of the colony.

They'll never last.

I made no assumptions.

I made no mention of superstition or fantasy. Go back and re-read my post.

I did not mention death or afterlife.

It is very nice to change the argument to that which you have your pat arguments. In that way you do not have to reconsider what you want to believe.

In order to make it convenient for you and save time, here is my post to which you have responded above.

The ants will not even be conscious of your existence or efforts to better/improve their plight. The ants will not recognize any higher intelligence or power than what they experience in their ant colony.

We are those ants and it is extreme arrogance on our part to deny the existence of a higher intelligence or power that is beyond our understanding.

Do you think dogs go to heaven (i.e. "Rainbow Bridge)? What about cats? What about other animals, or is it exclusively for pets? Where do bad animals go, if anywhere?

And here's one I've always wondered...

If God wants you to be happy in Heaven for eternity...

And you believe you'll meet your relatives in Heaven...

What happens if, say, your brother is a killer and goes to Hell...

You'd never see him for all eternity, and wouldn't that make you and your parents unhappy for eternity?

Would a loving and forgiving God really do that to your family?

You run your lawnmower over an anthill. A different anthill is burned in a wildfire. The ants in both colonies could conclude that their God is angry with them and create a religion to attempt to appease him by following laws they themselves create. They don't understand either events, they simply react to them. You could explain religion in this way. Neither the lawnmower nor the fire are gods- they are simply unfathomable events.

I gave you reality. You are talking nonsense. Ants do not conclude or create religions.

I don't know, it seemed to work that way for the Mayans and Aztecs...
