Maybe criminals are attracted to gun free zones? Less likely to get shot by a mugging victim if you know they can't carry weapons legally.

I don't have the link handy but a recent study found that less than 17% of the guns used in Mexico's narco/gang/smuggling/murder activity come from the US.

You can take a course to get your CCW, takes awhile, but worth it. You do not have to tell an officer in a traffic stop you have a CCW. ( but they usually get that info from dispatch)
