Two Californias
Abandoned farms, Third World living conditions, pervasive public assistance -- welcome to the once-thriving Central Valley.

The last three weeks I have traveled about, taking the pulse of the more forgotten areas of central California. I wanted to witness, even if superficially, what is happening to a state that has the highest sales and income taxes, the most lavish entitlements, the near-worst public schools (based on federal test scores), and the largest number of illegal aliens in the nation, along with an overregulated private sector, a stagnant and shrinking manufacturing base, and an elite environmental ethos that restricts commerce and productivity without curbing consumption.

from the article

Hundreds of thousands sense all that and vote accordingly with their feet, both into and out of California — and the result is a sort of social, cultural, economic, and political time-bomb, whose ticks are getting louder.

interesting read but didn't find any solutions which is what i was looking for. thank you for the link.

so as to solutions do you think the feds should or will bail out california?

I have a long time family friend whose daughter, years ago, married into a very large California dairy operation. They just completed a multi year process of moving their entire operation from California to Texas.

Smart move..Texas knows how to keep an economy running unlike California. Funny to watch blue states drain into red ones.

Excellent article! I think you could interchange the words Colorado and California. Visit Federal Blvd between 36 and Hampden or any location between Wadsworth to the east and I-25 to the west...and welcome to the second Colorado. Visit southern Colorado and you too will get the sense that you are in a foreign land.

Our government has sold America out ...allowing the importation of cheap illegal labor in it's attempt to soften inflation but yet benefit from the rising revenue during a boom economy.

Colorado like Central California depends on Federal monies to prop up the state's economy. Colorado is a welfare state...without Federal employees, federally back student loans, and Medicare, Colorado has an economy the size of Wyoming but liberal programs the size of California.

At least with Republicans in the House their is hope that we won't be bailing out California when it finally goes bankrupt. This will be the only thing that saves California from itself. Sometimes you need to destroy the village in order to save it.

CA DUI Checkpoints =RACIST= Pick up too many illegals

Great article/points:

DUI Checkpoints Deemed to Be Racist
California's colonization by illegal aliens with a well-known penchant for driving drunk may put an end to the inconvenience of DUI checkpoints, which moonbat activists deem to be racist:

Two local advocate groups for undocumented immigrants have publicly accused the Los Angeles Police Department and the Los Angeles County Sherriff's Department of using DUI checkpoints to legally seize thousands of cars.

The Southern California Immigration Coalition and the South Central Neighborhood Council claim DUI checkpoints are strategically placed in and around Hispanic communities as a trap to catch unlicensed and undocumented drivers.

"In one impound, four cars were impounded because of drunk driving and 60 cars were impounded because of a lack of a license," said Julia Wallace of the South Central Neighborhood Council. "It's obvious to us that for one, these things are targeting working class people, undocumented immigrants, that do not have a license but are really just abiding the law otherwise and are not drunk." (Ummmm helllooooo, undocumented immigrants are NOT abiding the law and driving without a license is a no-no and also drunk driving!!!)

Here's an example of the usefulness of the Newspeak euphemisms liberals speak in. If she had said, "illegal aliens" who are abiding by the law other than driving drunk and without licenses, it would be even harder to keep a straight face. After all, the term "illegal" does have a legal meaning.

What's to be done about the racism inherent in stopping drunk drivers in areas where most of the drunk drivers are invading Mexicans? Maybe they should follow in the footsteps of Maywood, a city completely taken over by "undocumented Immigrants." There the police were ordered to disband their traffic enforcement division lest drunken, unlicensed Mexicans be inconvenienced. Eventually, Maywood did away with its police department altogether. Lighting a shining path for the rest of California, Maywood soon collapsed into bankruptcy and lawlessness.

For now, militants may settle for following Oakland's example:

The two groups want the city of Los Angeles to adopt a policy similar to the policy in Oakland, where undocumented or unlicensed drivers are allowed to pull over and wait for a licensed driver to come and get their vehicle rather than have their vehicle impounded.

Does anyone know how illegals get Colorado drivers licenses? If you haven't had to do it for yourself or your child, the drill an American who lives in Colorado but borned in another state is something else. You must get a state issued birth certificate. The birth certificate from the county, state, or other municipality doesn't count; however, you could get a Mexican consular card with no ID and subsequently get a bank account and drivers license. Welcome to the land of everything is free.
