It's where and how you sue them that determines which one. I still like to read on paper. It's a nice change of pace from viewing a computer screen all the time.
The nice thing about kindle, it's not a back-lit screen, e-ink looks just like the printed page, and just as easy on the eyes. And....you can change the font size. I am hopelessly addicted to my kindle, I have read more books in the 18 months I have had it than in at least the 5 years previous. Free and low cost e-books have opened my world to new authors and genres. It has literally paid for itself with the lower cost of books. (yeah, I used to spend a lot on books)
I got the wife a Kindle for Christmas and she loves it, probably the best gift I have ever bought her. I will continue to buy paperbacks. I like being able to pass them on to people or libraries.

yes, actually there are more books for kindle than for the nook, but you can't download from the library with the kindle as you can with a nook. (downloading from a library does not include new releases as I understand it). Both will have similar free and low cost titles as prices are set by the publishers for the most part.
