GOP Rep. Lee resigns amid Craigslist scandal

Carrie Dann writes:Republican Rep. Christopher Lee of New York resigned Wednesday, merely hours after a gossip site reported that the married congressman sent a shirtless photo of himself to a woman he contacted through website Craigslist.com.

On Wednesday afternoon, Gawker.com posted the photo and emails exchanged between Lee, 46, and an unnamed woman who placed an ad on the site’s “Women for Men” personals section.

In the emails to the 34-year-old Maryland woman, Lee - who is married with one son - identified himself as a divorced lobbyist and a “fit fun classy guy,” the site reported. He also said he was 39 years old.

Darn... Those "family values conservatives" just can't seem to keep their zippers up.

Smile!

Well, at least he resigned quickly rather than letting it drag on forever.

I wonder if there is more to this, though. Because history (Bill Clinton, John Ensign) shows you can survive something like this, so long as it isn't with minors. Or maybe he's just doing what those others should of done too?

You can tell a lot about people's lives at how much pleasure they get out of family destroying posts. Sad life.......

The damage was already done. It's the congressman's email that led to any destruction of his family, not anything posted here. By the time it got here, it was already reported all over the place, and I even saw the photo I posted on the evening news tonight (before I posted it).

He voted against the repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell"..I guess that means Don't Ask, Don't Tell my wife what I'm doing on Facebook?

Yeah... He got a blow-job and he shouldn't have. And John Edwards was a slimebag and deserved to get busted...(And I've said so before.)

Clinton didn't campaign on being a "family values", anti-gay Republican. I find that hypocritical in conservatives, and I also find it fascinating that the ones who scream the loudest about "traditional family values" seem to have a MUCH higher propensity for getting caught with their pants down...

He campaigned on "I did not inhale". That wasn't hypocritical. Raise your hand if you believe that one.

Are you saying that he is a slime but at least he wasn't hypocritical? I just don't know why this always has to turn into Rep vs. Lib when this happens. No offense.
