I don't know why we can never discuss a Republican getting cought in a scandle without bringing up Clinton. Does having a Democrat get cought give any Republican a free ride? It sure seems that way. Clinton was the best thing that ever happened to Republicans who want to cheat...their conservative constituents will forgive them because they say...hey Clinton did it.
For the same reason that the rest of us get tired of everything from sunspots to air quality being turned into a Rep vs Lib situation by the conservatives. Raise your hand if you think that if it had been a Democrat, that one of the righties wouldn't have posted it with a snarky comment.
Clinton got brought up because you guys always say if a rep gets caught in a scandal it is just republicans. Same happened with the arizona shooting. It was- because of whack job tea partiers. When I brought up Reagan the same thing happened. I just object to using these examples of nutbars as a way to try and show that all rep are crazy. It happens on both sides. IMHO.
The NE is no more capable of producing a conservative than Kenya is capable of producing a blonde haired, blue eyed Swede. The Republican party of the NE is more liberal than the Dems of the south. Not sure why the libs of the board have such a hard time wrapping their little minds around that fact. Must be because the fact is bigger than their minds.
I have yet to see any liberal post that it is ONLY Republicans who engage in cheating...what LJ pointed out was that it is the Republicans who run on a platform of family values and morality. You don't find that just a little hypocritical?

Look, so far as cheating/adultery goes, I think it's safe to say that neither party supports it. And don't Democrats support "family values and morality" too? If Democrats don't at least support morality, then I'll really wonder.
Let's discuss if adultury disqualifies a politician. It used to, but it seems it no longer does after Clinton (I'm sure it's happened many times before, but wasn't public). I'm not really taking a position one way or the other, just want to hear what others think about it.
Anyway, of the 3 examples I gave (Lee, Clinton, Ensign), and I know there are more, I'd say the Republican Ensign apparently did the worse. Not just adultery, but it looks like bribery too.
I'd put Clinton next. We know he cheated, and in the White House, and probably cheated before, and then lied about it. Does it matter to anyone?
And now Lee. At this point we don't know if he did the act, does it matter too? He's just another idiot, but at least he did resign. But like I said before, there might be more to this, and that's my guess. Has he lied yet?
??? I don't understand. Yeah, this guy is a dirtbag for cheating on his wife. I don't care what party he is in, or what he ran on. Wrong is wrong..... period. I don't cut anyone slack for this activity....regardless of party. If you cheat on your wife/husband, you are a dirtbag, and I don't want you in national office. If you are willing to cheat the one person who should be able to trust you completely, why would you not cheat on the taxpayers and citizens who you don't even know.
Too bad future generations aren't here to see all the great things we are spending their $$ on!!
Somehow I knew LJ would post this today. On the plus side, at least it isn't a homosexual affair, (not that there is anything wrong with homosexuality.) and it wasn't a subordinate like Clinton and Teddy Kennedy.
BTW, Fair & Balanced Fox covered this story last night.

Clinton didn't campaign on being a "family values", anti-gay Republican. I find that hypocritical in conservatives, and I also find it fascinating that the ones who scream the loudest about "traditional family values" seem to have a MUCH higher propensity for getting caught with their pants down...
You are right LJ, he didn't run on family values (that would be a huge joke). He took advantage of his high position with an intern, then he looked America in the face and lied about it. I also don't recall him ever retracting the lie. He's as big a dirtbag as Edwards unless Hillary gave him the green light to be a scumbag, then that says a lot about her.
So while Lee is also a scumbag, his actions don't really compare to all of Clintons many cheating actions.
The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.
For the record, I've started threads on Dems who have gotten busted for similar escapades. I think it's despicable regardless of the party. For some reason the "family values conservatives" provide so many more opportunities to do so.
