Bracing for what the IRS calls the largest set of tax law changes in 20 years, a newly released IRS budget reports that the agency is seeking to bolster its resources in preparation for Obamacare implementation to the tune of 1,054 new auditors and staff — at a cost of $359 million to taxpayers.
The increase request is due to the enormous challenges the agency faces, according to US News & World Report. Among the requests to meet those challenges: new facilities; new IT systems; modification to tax processing systems; taxpayer outreach services; and changes to notices, case management, and collections methods.
Obama
Remember how the Republicans spun this a few months ago?
They claimed the IRS was going to hire about 16,500 new agents to enforce Obamacare. It was pointed out (by me included) that this was spin in that they assumed all the money allocated in the health care bill for the IRS would go to hiring new agents. It was pointed out back then that the IRS money would also go to other things such as facilities.
Well, this article proves that the claim of 16,500 IRS agents was BS, just as we pointed out months ago.

So who is going to enforce the penalties for not buying insurance?

At this point, nobody. The health care bill specifically takes away from the IRS the powers of collection it normally uses such as attaching wages or criminal penalties. The only way the IRS could collect unpaid penalties for not buying insurance would be to withhold the penalties from any tax refund due. But a person can easily defeat that simply by not having as much tax withheld from his paycheck in order to assure there is no refund due.

So, we're going to spend $359,000,000 to enact legislation that has no teeth to bring in the money that the authors used to justify the costs.
Freakin brilliant!

Yep.....the Republicans wouldn't let the Democrats put any teeth into the bill, they are big on providing loopholes for whoever wants them.
