ARVADA, Colo. -- An 11-year-old Arvada boy was arrested and hauled away in handcuffs for drawing stick figures in school - something his therapist told him to do.

The boy’s parents say they understand what he did was inappropriate, but are outraged by the way Arvada Police handled the case.

Are you kidding me? WT*?

He drew a picture of himself with a gun shooting teachers and captioned it "Teachers must Die". I think arresting him may have been overboard, but some action was certainly called for.

He was instucted by his therapist to do so instead of acting it out or holding it in.
No crime commited. And if everyone was to be jailed for what the drew as sick figures most on this board would be in upper fairplay.

He does what the therapist said and what his mother said. Perhaps now he will realize that he should not do what he is told.

Sadly, daisy, you're right.

the constitution apllies to minors as well - WTF is wrong with people anymore? The second commenter on the article said it all:

I'm glad i grew up before the world was this messed up.

Then: Make an unfriendly drawing about your teachers =/= teacher calls you out on it and reprimands you.

Now: Make an unfriendly drawaing about your teachers =/= teachers call police, possible jailtime and national news

In high school, way back in the early 80's, I played a modern homemade version of dungeons and dragons. One of other players had his character bomb our high school. Guess what that kid is doing today? Teaching at that same high school. I will have to ask him if he ever tells his students about this.

Arvada sounds like more zero tolerance crap.

What about the songs we used to make up about mean teachers. Isn't that just a kid thing?

When I was young me and all my friends used to sing this song AT SCHOOL. I know my teachers heard it.

Row, Row, Row your boat
Gently down the stream
Throw your teacher over board
and listen to her scream !

Teachers are being whiny babies.
