LOL! Sometimes it certainly is.

Some geek metric humor:
"Give a man 2.5cm and he'll take 1.6km!"
Spare the 5.03 meters and spoil the child.
Always put your best 0.3 of a meter forward.
Peter Piper picked 8.8 liters of pickled peppers.
A miss is as good as 1.6 kilometers.

On a side note, I'm all for converting to metric - it makes a lot more sense and is MUCH easier to learn.

"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther

The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it. ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. ~Winston Churchill

Way back when they were talking about converting to metric.... they need to do it or not, part of the problem is trying to convert from one to the other. If everything is metric, no need to convert and people will adjust. The problem is the cost to convert.... car seedometers already will provide speed in both MPH and KPH but our odometers are set to miles (perhaps a simple change at the dealer? don't know) all speed limit signs would need to be changed and that's a HUGE expense especially for states on the brink of bankruptcy already. Beverages are already mostly sold by the metric unit altho many have both metric and US volumes designated.

Then think of recipes... what else needs to be converted?????

I think they dropped the idea of converting to metric when they began to realize how much the conversion would cost - and how relatively little it would gain.
