There are misconceptions about leotards and the 80s (the 80s was when it really grew) but it's evolved over the years. It's a dance/fitness program that incorporates cardio, strength training, stretching, kickboxing, pilates -- it takes elements from a lot of different disciplines and puts them into one class so it's a well-rounded workout.

Aimee Pless, Jazzercise Owner and Class Instructor

What is Jazzercise?

Aimee: Jazzercise has been around for almost 50 years.

How long has Jazzercise been in Conifer?
Aimee: Jazzercise has been in the Conifer area for over 20 years, but we've been in this studio for 11 years.

How many instructors do you have?

Aimee: We have 11 instructors. We also have class managers and babysitting on staff. We offer childcare in the babysitting room.

What made you decide to open this business?

Aimee: Well I started off actually as a student. I got excited when I saw that they had childcare. Then then previous owner started this studio, and when she moved down the hill, I ended up taking over. I never imagined myself as a business owner but not I can't imagine life without it.

I hear that you are very involved in the community. Can you tell us more about that?

Aimee: I make a lot of great connections here at the studio. I also lead a book club, and I'm PTA President at Elk Creek Elementary so some of the moms there come to my studio. I'm also a member of the Conifer Chamber of Commerce. Jazzercise does the warmup for the Elevation Celebration 5K, we've had an annual breast cancer fundraiser and we donate proceeds to Komen Colorado, and we donate our studio to a local elementary school for fundraisers.

What kinds of classes do you offer?

Aimee: We have all different types of classes. Strength training only, interval classes that mix cardio and strength, dance mix classes. We class for all levels, genders, and ages. We have 37 classes a week.

What's the best way to sign up for a class?

Aimee: Go to jazzercise.com, enter your zip code and the class schedule will pop up. Anyone is welcome to try it out. The first class is free!
