Painting a Positive Landscape on the Canvas of Life

Paint. It's the medium that Rachel Henderson has been using to spread happiness and invoke creativity in others for nearly 20 years! You might catch her around town painting the faces of little ones at an event or leading a canvas painting party. Her creative spirit and kind demeanor has helped her become a successful small business owner and a positive influence in the community.

Psst!!

By the way, did you know that November 24th is Small Business Saturday? Small Business Saturday is a great time to promote not only your own business, but that of your fellow businesses in the area as well!

Could you tell us a little bit about yourself and your business?

My name is Rachel Henderson and I'm a local Conifer-ite. I've been in in Conifer since 2014 and I've been the Owner and artist of Rachel's Creations ever since 1999. I specialize in murals, faux finishing, face painting, and I've started doing canvas painting parties at the location of your choice.

I often see you market your face painting business around town. What made you decide to go into that niche?

started doing the murals in the mid-2000s and then the economy got difficult. A friend of mine asked me to face-paint her girls for their birthday parties, and so I followed up with some friends of mine that did it professionally, and I learned the right paints and techniques to use. I started doing it more frequently and I loved it. I love helping to make the kids smile. You can't have a bad day when you're making kids smile.

Besides birthdays, what other kinds of events do you normally like to paint at?

I love to do corporate team-building events, company and neighborhood picnics, holiday events like Breakfast with Santa, local festivals, ladies' nights, and holiday parties.

How can the community help you grow your business?

I do a lot of social media posting on Facebook and the different local neighborhood sites, so the best way to help is to share those posts. And if you've had me at an event you enjoy what I do, it's always helpful to put a good review on my Rachel's Creations Facebook page or on any local neighborhood site and just help spread the word!  Word of mouth is the best way to get clients.

Special thanks to the folks at Chill'd Frozen Yogurt for letting us film there!
