Unfortunately, the deer whistles do not work. There are people who believe that they do, who will swear up and down that they work, but countless studies by universities have come to the conclusion that there are of no more use than anything else, and are definitely not louder than the noise your car makes as it approaches the deer.

I actually was talking to a coworker who told me, adamantly, that she KNEW that her whistles worked. I showed her the studies, and then said "Well, it's not exactly like you knew one way or the other... The deer won't send you a letter that says "Thank goodness you had those whistles, I never would have heard you coming!"
