Yesterday, we had some bull elk come through, big ones and some yearling's.
They have shed most of their winter coats with just a touch of scraggliness about them.
A couple of "Braver" kits were sitting under "their" tree wondering "WHAT THE HECK ARE THOSE?!?!"
And about that time, one of the boys thought the same thing about the kits and headed over
kits dove down into their den and the bull came right up "their" tree
These look like younger bulls from the Conifer herd. What great pix of the elk exploring.
Some of the other bulls further east in the Richmond Hill area have longer antlers in velvet already.

Came thur my yard after Wily's, but since our new Conifer Ridge, neighbor is putting in a fence, for his horses, I don't think I'll be seeing many anymore.
The deer and elk jump over all the horse fences that back up to us. How high are they building it?
Also, those 7 does you are talking about: is one of them "floppy eared deer"?
Unless the fencing is 7 ft or higher I doubt that the elk will have any trouble jumping it. They manage to get through fencing quite nicely when they want to go somewhere. Such good memories to remember where all the good eating is. They will visit you TPP.
Nice pic of the deer Wily. So do the doe(s) look like they are about ready to have their fawns? It used to be that we would look around Father's day but have found more recently that in this neck of the woods the first of June is better to see little ones.

we had two big girls come through yesterday. I have no idea to tell when they are about to give birth. We just see them show up later on with the little ones.
Wily do you still have your fox kits? We had been watching 5 kits and now they have moved out of the den. Not sure where they moved to. Just wondering if they moved to another den or are out of the den learning how to hunt.
