Foxes Foxes Foxes

The fox den was "evacuated/abandoned" a couple of weeks ago. We were sad cuz we were hoping we got to watch them all summer. They were going out hunting with the parents, so maybe they needed more rodents to hunt? 10 foxes on a local rodent population can wipe it out fast. and then they had elk, deer, and a yearling bear poking around, so maybe they thought it was time to move on. We have seen mom and dad and a couple of the kits from time to time. We did go peak in the den, I'll have to take the camera down there, what a setup! it is dug out into the hillside under a big tree and protected from the elements.
We have ZERO gopher holes and mounds and mess this year. FIRST TIME EVA! yeah!

lol Thanks, Wily. Yeahh for foxes. Have to wonder where all the foxes will go. Wonder if they stay in their parents territory or if they have to establish their own.

Daddy stopped by this morning with one of the kits. Even though they have moved out of the den, they are close by somewhere. They came by to hang and get a drink from the pond.

Stunning pix Wily.

Are you seeing more wildlife at the pond? Just wondering if other sources for water are drying up.

we aren't "seeing" them, but the grasses are getting smooshed down by critters at night, most likely foxes and raccoons.

The parents came by with two of the kits and they played out on the dam where they used to when they first came out of the den...

to give you an idea of how much they have grown, this is dad with one of the kits... just as big, just needs the legs to grow out a bit more
