Recreational shooting

For years, we have enjoyed the freedom of recreational shooting up here. Seems a lot of folks are availing themselves of that freedom and a lot of folks are complaining about it.
I read a lot about why folks move up here. The peace and quiet. The ability to have 10 dogs and to leave them out all night to keep their neighbors awake all night. The ability to own dirt bikes and 4 wheelers to ride on their property. Does recreational shooting bother folks up here?

Doesn't bother me much. I have heard so very little of it in the 12 years we have lived here until this past weekend. There was a fairly long session of gunfire below and east of our property. Never heard it that close or that prolonged before. I assume it was to sight in some firearms for hunting season or getting familiar with a new one. It sort of broke the mood for a quiet evening out on the deck after a looong day of hiking in the huge forest and wilderness areas so close to us. But it was just one night and I don't anticipate it happening every day/evening on the weekends. There are a lot of residentials in that area and the sound travels so well in that valley. I got over it pretty quickly but still wondered where and whom it was coming from.

Hope whoever it was was being safe and picked up all their shells.

Not a problem, does sound like Freedom.

Maybe they should move to Chicago.

I haven't noticed anything different lately, except for a couple more Roosters. I actually like the roosters, it sounds funny as long as it is not constant all day.

Doesn't bother me a bit. I do think folks should use a certain amount of restraint in terms of hours (say, 8AM to 10PM). Wish the barking dogs would do that!

No problem, tell the city folk to go to Evergreen, they have rules about noise.
As a good neigbhor I use the 10 ta 10 rule, (1000 hrs - 2200 hrs.), & it's all good, do wish some others would remember that rule. I understand that they're are times that it's just not possible, but that damn dog every morning... (Yes, called Animal Control, (as others have also, after talking with him with no action taken) and the Wizard let's the dog out to bark for 55 minutes, then let's the dog back in, nothing like using the system...) BTW, the dog stops (or they take it in), if you shout REALLY LOUD

"SHUT-UP YOU'RE F**KING DOG!!!"

The shooting doesn't bother me, and as far as I know there's only a few of us that opt to shoot at 6am for training purposes. Its only done once every several months though by our group. Typically we try to utilize the dark times in the evenings instead but every now and then the morning is preferred when switching from NV optics to day optics.

Haven't had any complaints on our rooster, but most of the neighbors have their own anyway. The only dog complaints are those dogs that don't seem to stay in their own yards.

Gotta agree Martin.....It does sound like freedom. :) . Need to talk to you about a backstop for our property.
Made our appointments this am.
Passed the class with flying colors and have a nice new piece of equipment to get really proficient at.

Oh, pu-leeze.

In that case, so do barking dogs, dirt bikes & loud music. Doesn't matter if you think you are preparing for the revolution, noise is noise and sound carries in the mountains.
