Compensation should be reviewed......your experience sounds reasonable. These boards IMHO should be service ......period.
"The EFPD is managed by a Board of Directors consisting of five volunteer members, elected by the voters in the district. "
The board is volunteer and is not paid for their time.
Thank you for your service. I'm sure you've seen things that wouldn't happen in civilian life. I still don't agree with you in that the board doesn't require an understanding of firefighting. In order to effectively run a department, they must know in detail what the department does. I will agree that the main skills required to be on the board are administrative: financial, interpersonal, negotiation and mediation, and organization. That's the main method that I'm going to use to judge the recall - in my opinion, the current board has not failed on any of those. In addition, the current board has numerous years of experience doing what they're currently administrating... that seems like a good thing to me.
You brought up the fire down south in which people were killed. I don't believe that was in this district, so the mistakes made on the burn are irrelevant to this discussion.

I just expressed on opinion, and predicted that you would not change your posting style based on the comments...
My prediction was right
Not that it matters, I just like saying "I was right" It doesn't happen near often enough so I take 'em where I can get 'em.

I agree that the local media should be covering this, but to be fair, that isn't a CNN story but rather an ireport that anyone can put on CNNs website.
We have been following this as best we can from AZ, a NIMBY group run amok. We should be providing our firefighters with every easily accessible tool that we can.
I did not know that thank you for pointing it out.
I guess I really do not care how the information gets out and I for one want them to show both sides as it will show everyone what a waste of money this recall is because a few people threw a tantrum.
It's not available online yet, but if you grab a copy of this month's Mountain Connection that just came out today, there's an article written by Daniel Koller for the recall and one by Chris Johnson who is the Deputy Chief of Operations for the Evergreen Volunteer Fire Dept against the recall on Page 22.
(P.S. Don't miss the Pulitzer-prize worthy article on Page 18 as well!) :jk2: lol
