OK Rockdoc, I think you should make us our new bedroom set that we didn't even know we wanted until just now! NICE work, really beautifully done. You brought that wood to life and let it shine with its own inner beauty and light. Not an easy task. Good job, really. Thanks for posting.

See...this is why I don't want to post my tinkering....when you have a craftsman like Rockdoc here!!

My daughter needed a stepstool and I didn't like the cheap walmart plastic ones, so I took a bunch of old 1x4's from crates a packing company throws away by my office, and made this....

Course, I'm just a noobie, not a skilled professional like Rockdoc. Maybe someday!!!

Too bad future generations aren't here to see all the great things we are spending their $$ on!!

See RenegadeCJ, we all like that you did something. It does not have to be spectacular. And another thing. I'm hardly a professional. I'm an amateur who never had any training above helping with the house building when I was a teenager. It's only a matter of reading, learning, experimenting, and not being afraid to fail. Thank you for sharing your work. I too believe in recycling materials. that is what made tearing down the old house a major project. It pained me when I had to agree to someone else coming in and trashing what I was not able to get done dismembering.

Now here are a few rather simple things anyone can make. I have made patterns for them. they are a variety of toys. Would like to have some people make some to give away at Christmas time. All pull toys are made out of cherrywood, the truck from maple. Hardwoods are not necessary. Recycled 2x 6, 8, 10 and larger stock work very well. the wheels and cams for moving parts I purchase.

Lumber truck. This is a lot more work that it may look at first glance.

Gorgeous craftsmanship! My hubby claimed he like to do wood working when we first got together, and when the opportunity came along for him to build our wine cellar, he made several small prototypes of the shelving. And then stopped. He's not one for finishing a big, manual labor project. I finally got tired of waiting for my wine cellar and called in the pros who did it in a week! :) Then we gave away his Dad's old router to his nephew, who's put it to good use! heehee!

He does build model boats though and I'll try to get some pics of those up soon.

"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther

The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it. ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. ~Winston Churchill
