So who thinks we will really get the snow they say?

I watched the news all morning and the early news said 4 to 8 for Denver and by the end of the news they had changed that to 2 to 5 inches for Denver.

Wonder if this will be a big drama storm either way will be going to town for mothers day.

I doubt we'll get the high end. Here's what NOAA says we'll get:

Today Isolated showers and thunderstorms after 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 57. Southwest wind 9 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Tonight A chance of rain before 1am, then a chance of rain and snow between 1am and 4am, then a chance of snow after 4am. Some thunder is also possible. Cloudy, with a low around 33. West southwest wind 6 to 10 mph becoming east northeast after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Sunday Snow, mainly after 9am. High near 33. East northeast wind 6 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 6 to 10 inches possible.

Sunday Night Snow. Low around 22. North wind 7 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 17 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 5 to 9 inches possible.

Monday A 50 percent chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 36. North wind 7 to 9 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph.

ALWAYS dicey and dubious, when you are "forecasting" spring in the Rockies....was at a teleco
conference in Aurora (Gun Club Road,BEFORE DIA was constructed)......that morning it was
sunny, bright and 60ish by 11 AM......UNpredicted storm came in, by early afternoon it was
SNOWING and they shut down I-70 both ways....it was mid afternoon....didn't get home till
9PM that nite.....you just never know what the Rocky Mtns. will serve up.

One thing is for sure, the weather in our area is anything but predictable. If I had to guess just based on having a look at the sky, right now I'd guess that we're about to get some precipitation but nothing too serious. Experience tells me that what I'm seeing right now is not a reliable indication of what will happen later on today and tonight.

I'm going to plan for the worst so I can be over prepared and not surprised when all we get is some rain or a couple inches of wet sloppy snow.

I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

That's the kind of snow that breaks tree branches and brings down power lines... We need the water but it would be better if we could get it in smaller doses over a couple of days.

The barometer here at the Cave is reading 29.77 and still falling, getting a breeze out of the northwest, and it's overcast. Something is coming but no precip so far. Maybe I'll fire up the grill and have a couple of brats for dinner. I should have washed the Wundermutt today, that would have opened the sky just as soon as the mutt was dry.

I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

Tough to predict snow. If it is a little warm it is just rain. Never plant before Mother's Day.
