Hopefully the rule of 3's happens and we are done with the accidents on 285 for a while.

Thoughts are with the jeffco deputy. I really hope the other driver had a medical issue and was not going the wrong way becuase of drug or alcohol use.

We can conjecture until we know. Perhaps the person was a fairly new driver. Perhaps he got confused since it was dark.

Whatever, it is tragic for both families.

When I was going to work yesterday morning, large trucks and SUVs were roaring past me. At one point, I was in the left lane and an SUV behind me swung into the right lane to pass me, practically hitting the car in that lane that I was getting ready to pass. Obviously, I wasn't going fast enough for him.

It IS very scary.

285 scares me and I say a prayer every time I get on it.

Fortunately my children are slow...had they left Lakewood a few minutes earlier, them and my truck could have been in that spot. They were re-routed through Evergreen last night to get home to Fairplay.

Prayers and blessings for those involved.

In my opinion, the road is safe - it's the drivers that scare me. What is going on with all these cars going the wrong way? the accident at Springs was a result of someone crossing the center line and headed the wrong way, this one at Eagle Cliff was someone headed the wrong way and another one was just reported (9:25am Thursday) of yet ANOTHER car going the wrong way on 285. Luckily this one ended with only property damage. PLEASE Keep your eyes on the road, put the phones down, and watch for on coming traffic - in other words: Drive Defensively and be safe out there.
p.s. don't forget the deer and elk are on the move now, too
