It just occurred to me. Google has Chrome and this might be a ploy for when they bring out their operating system.

I use Linux on three of my machines and my server and windows on three others. I have to have windows for some of the apps that I run. But if I could find comparable apps for Linux I would switch even more over. Linux is great!. No real virus threats. SOOO much faster and much more stable. I don't blame Google at all. Microsoft continues to beta test on its customers. That is why they have a constant distribution of patches and updates. MS should not release anything until it is stable.

Yes, Chrome is linux based, I have it running within a virtual machine.

My first version of linux was Red Hat 4.2. Enlightenment, which only took about four hours to compile, was unlike anything anyone had ever seen before. It was really pretty cool! Within a few years, I was rid of M$ and swore I wouldn't go back. For the most part I haven't, but there are a few (very few) things I just cannot avoid.

Linux has gotten much easier now. They even have a GUI so most people would feel right at home.

Google runs a version of Ubuntu called Gubuntu. Half the computers in my house run Linux, anytime I can avoid running Windows I do.

Linux is a good tool with which to learn computers, software, and such. Support for the Linux flavors of OS is worse than terrible. Whenever you go to IRC networks to ask for help, you will meet the most insulting, arrogant, conceited, abusive bunch of SOBs that exist on the face of the earth. And they feel that if you are not a minimalist, you are scum.

And talk about beta testing. Every flavor of Linux is a beta. And you cannot update your build.

But it is a good learning tool for students. JMO.

Major Bean

MS should not release anything until it is stable.

That would solve the problem - nothing more would ever be released by M$! lol
