NASA made a major announcement today. The announcement centers on the California discovery of bacteria that feeds on arsenic. The discovery triggered the astrobiology area of NASA to release an announcement.

These bacteria are the first known life form to live a life based on arsenic. NASA has said that arsenic replaces phosphorus at the cellular level.

I know this is a big deal, But I really didn't find it all that surprising. Arsenic and phosphorus are apparently pretty close chemically. Life will happen if at all possible.
