Update on the Wildfire and Evacuation Near Lake George
3 pm update
Park County, CO – As of 3 PM the wildfire burning in Park County between Lake George and Guffey has reached 30 acres with minor spread to the north and northeast. An evacuation was ordered for the impacted area of County Road 403 and Alpine Meadows Lane. The area North to Northeast of Homestake Place and County Road 403 is also under a mandatory evacuation. Alpine Meadows Lane is a road in Pike Forest Estate and intersects CR 403 between Forest Lane and Homestake Place.
The fire was reported at 10:52 AM by a nearby resident. The response has been swift and led by the Lake George Fire Protection District and assisted by the Hartsel Fire Protection District; Florissant Fire Protection District; Cripple Creek Fire Department; Divide Fire Protection District; Teller County Sheriff’s Office and Animal Control; United States Forest Service and the Colorado Parks and Wildlife. In addition, Bulkhide Fire Services is providing a type 5 company and the state provided air support with a helicopter while the UPRAD (Ute Pass Regional Ambulance District) is staged in the area as well.
