#403Fire: Wildfire in Park County, Evacuation Ordered near CR 403

Update on 403: Now 65% Contained

Park County, CO - The 403 Fire continues to burn in Park County, 8 miles South of Lake George on the South Park Ranger District of the Pike National Forest. Firefighters are making progress and the fire is now 65% contained.

Today hand-crews and engines concentrated on building depth to strengthen the containment lines. Crews continue to improve the fire line and secure the perimeter by putting out hot spots and smoldering stump holes that were identified by the Multi-Mission Aircraft yesterday.

The safety of our firefighters is our highest priority. A map of the fire is enclosed.

403 Fire Update: 1,518 acres at 76% contained. Today crews will continue to mop-up hot spots in order to keep the fire in check in anticipation of the high-pressure weather system forecasted. Today’s maximum predicted temperature is 58 degrees with west winds up to 12 mph. There are 51 personnel that continue to support suppression efforts.

Update on 403: Pre-Evacuations Lifted Fire Now 88% Contained

Park County, CO - The 403 Fire is now 88% contained and Sheriff McGraw has lifted the Pre-evacuation notice for the surrounding area. Please remain alert and watch for updates as firefighters continue to make progress on suppression efforts.

403 Fire Update: 1,518 acres, 92% contained. Crews continue to mop up, secure fires perimeter to reach full containment. Smoke expected heavy fuel continues to smolder. Warm, dry, windy weather predicted resulting in critical fire conditions therefore Red Flag Warning in effect.

403 Fire Update: 1,559 acres, 100% contained. Crews tied-in fire lines. Still points of heat inside perimeter, visible smoke from blackened area. Firefighters patrol daily. Fire will be turned back to local authorities at 8:00 AM on 4/14/2023. Final update on the 403 Fire.
