These are many of the same points I was attemting to make (albeit poorly apparently) in the face veil thread.
I would certainly not limit that perception to westerners based on experience. I'd also hate to be limited to "binary conflict" since I expect my conflicts encompasses a lot more than two. The key word in the article is assumption and once again the way the word is spelled lives up to its name. Things never work out right when one ass-u-me-s.
And chickaree, I do not think the arguments present on the face veil thread simply fit into the concept of "binary conflict"
I am a naturalized American, but have lived and experienced non-western cultures in places like Vietnam, Saudi and Abu Dhabi. Work takes me around the globe and mostly I find foreign cultures interesting.

I think with wisdom comes tolerance and recognition there is more than one way to live life. Every culture has something from which one can learn and grow as a human being.
