Let's say that the company down the street comes up with a process that saves on carbon emissions so he sells these savings for a carbon offset.
Let's say my company emits carbon in to the atmosphere. Why should I buy the other fellow's carbon offset? What would be the economic gain from doing such a thing?
You are not telling all of the process here. There will be a huge tax put upon me for the carbon that I am emitting. That is the motivation that would make me have to buy the carbon offset.

That is why I mention the huge tax on every product and service in our economy.

That is what is going to make Al Gore a billionaire.
