I think we'd all be better off if the parties were not allowed to select a single candidate for our consideration on the final ballot. Let anyone with the gumption to serve in that capacity do what is necessary to get themselves on the ballot and let the citizens pick from anyone who seeks the office instead of only a single member of each party. The reason we are in the fix we're in has more to do with party politics than it does anything else. Get rid of the party whittling down the field before the election and we'll all be better off.SS109 wrote: Mike Huckabee had an interesting idea on Jay Leno. Instead of presidential primaries and caucuses, they should run campaigns like American Idol. Each party would pick 10 candidates based on the GOP or DNC website and 6 independents or minor party types would be picked. And every week, one or two people would be voted off. This should cut down on the need for campaign donations. And once the top 2 are picked, then you can have the election.
