Perhaps it should be named USS Karl Marx

Why would the Navy be kissing up to the hispanic community, unless they are looking to attract more hispanic Navy recruits? What kind of hispanic votes would the Navy get anyway?

Well, if we are going to look for ways illegals can facilitate citizenship acquisition, then joining the military would be a smart move.

Illegals cannot enlist. When I was a recruiter we required in depth documentation on status/citizenship as well as educational, any applicable medical documentation.

Might as well call it the Karl Marx.

I have a problem naming any ship in the military after a communist. Since we have spent the last 60 years fighting and killing communists in places like Vietnam, North Korea, Cuba, Nicaragua, Russia- now all of a sudden it's ok to name military ships after this leftist ideology?

What the hell is wrong with us? Can't we find a hispanic American who isn't a commie to name this ship after?

So, being a union-organizer is now automatically "communist"? Interesting... You have a source for that?... (And this time I'm NOT kidding...)

Here's what I found: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ceasar_Chavez

Hmmm.. Founded the group that became the United Farm Workers... And was a political force in many issues involving fair treatment of farm workers... Doesn't sound "communist" to me...

So... The usual... Generate a lie, and stick to it... Got it... :Snooze

I can only imagine what "acceptable" Hispanic names you'd come up with. Would it be the Chico Escuela, Jose Jimenez, or Speedy Gonzales?

Chavez was a communist, union organizer, and "leftie at large".

I give him one credit- he was anti-illegal immigration.

The UFW during Chávez's tenure was committed to restricting immigration.
On a few occasions, concerns that undocumented migrant labor would undermine UFW strike campaigns led to a number of controversial events, which the UFW describes as anti-strikebreaking events, but which have also been interpreted as being anti-immigrant. In 1969, Chávez and members of the UFW marched through the Imperial and Coachella Valleys to the border of Mexico to protest growers' use of undocumented immigrants as strikebreakers. Joining him on the march were both Reverend Ralph Abernathy and US Senator Walter Mondale.[15] In its early years, Chávez and the UFW went so far as to report undocumented immigrants who served as strikebreaking replacement workers, as well as those who refused to unionize, to the Immigration and Naturalization Service.[16][17][18][19][20]

In 1973, the United Farm Workers set up a "wet line" along the United States-Mexico border to prevent Mexican immigrants from entering the United States illegally and potentially undermining the UFW's unionization efforts.[21] During one such event in which Chávez was not involved, some UFW members, under the guidance of Chávez's cousin Manuel, physically attacked the strikebreakers, after attempts to peacefully persuade them not to cross the border failed.[22][23][24]

I really think we can come up with a better example to name a ship after. Plenty of roads and buildings are already named after Chavez.

I don't... I'm glad to see it.

If you have proof that he was a communist, prove it... Otherwise, you're a bullsh*t liar (as usual), and being pro-union and a "leftie" is fine by me.

Spoken like a true Sovereign Citizen wacko.

I'll take that to mean that you have no proof, and you admit you're a liar.

Google Cesar Chavez communist and find many opinions supporting both sides. The biggest difference between conservative/liberal, Republican/Democrat, Right/Left, etc. mostly has to do with how close can someone walk to socialist ideals and remain free thinking individuals? Those on the Left believe they can walk the knife edge and still support liberty. Those on the Right say "if it walks and quacks like a duck, its a duck." So, supporting socialistic ideals sure looks like a duck, no make that socialist or communist.

The silent majority will be silent no more.
