Personally.....I think the whole socialist/communist dialogue now is very reminiscent of the old McCarthy days.....he saw communists under every rock, in every business, and whenever he turned a corner. I'm pretty sure he would have used the "quacks like a duck" phrase if it had been available to him. The fallacy in his campaign, and in the current one, is what is being called a duck isn't a duck at all....it's the right wing's perception of a duck and it's fundamentally flawed. If you actually read the definitions of communist and socialist, and do your research......neither Chavez nor the others being labeled as such, are anywhere close to being socialists and communists.

But it's a great scare tactic isn't it.

And as I said, those on the Left believe they can walk that knife edge. A definition from whatever source, doesn't define something as absolute.

I don't think so. I'm seeing a lot of the right here calling the left socialist or communist, and likewise the left calling the right racist.

I think the main objection here (not by me) is not because of a Hispanic name, but due to the politics of Chavez.

Suppose the ship were named the Alberto Gonzeles instead. I think those on the right would be happy with it, and it would probably be someone on the left starting this thread.
