Given that NY lost 2 seats as a result of the last census, I think Weiner's seat will likely now be one of the two that is done away with, regardless of whether he resigns. The party will simply tell him that they are backing another incumbent from the party and force him into a primary battle against that person to get rid of him.
I heard the theory they will gerrymander the Twitter Flasher, but it is more likely the seats will be subtracted from the rural, Republican parts of the state. NYC is thriving and they have a Dem legislature and a Dem Governor.
