Vomitus, can we expect an answer to the question posed by archer?

I've never felt that America "deserves" to be beaten down.

I have wondered more than once whether we were simply indulging in the pride that comes before the fall, though.

It's kind of silly to imagine that a country with a relatively small portion of world population --- and virtually all of the world's measured wealth -- could possibly sustain its position in the long run. Free market economic models virtually ensure that what goes up --- must come down!

Are we getting beaten down? Nope - gravity simply kicked in.

There is a difference between going down a little bit, going back to parity with the rest of the pack, and even falling below the rest of the industrialized world. We can suffer a recession or even a depression and remain the alpha nation - as we have proven many times in the past. We don't have to be the next Rome, but we will be if the consolidation efforts to bring all power of governance into a single entity are realized since the one thing that every alpha nation of the past shared was a single governing entity holding all the power, which eventually led to despotic and tyrannical rule, obscene taxes, perpetual war to satisfy the economic demands of that centralized government and all the rest of the blueprint the left seems intent to follow that will put us alongside of them in the dustbin of nations.

So that is what I said except for the fluff I think.

I'm curious if Vomitus will respond to the very legitimate question from the left. If he can't this appears to be nothing more than partisan bomb throwing. The meme that one side love America while the other hates it is infantile. Obviously anyone interested enough in politics to voice an opinion loves their country, just in a different way than those across the spectrum. This kind of behavior Vomitus indulges in here is childish and destructive. The equivalent of tagging in your opponents territory.

It seems that the people on the left are defensive. President Obama goes on an apology tour and that is not diminishing the US? I beleive that it did. But it is not just the prgressives. THe right by their anti involvement (i.e. isiolationism) a la Ron Paul is also at fault. For those who think that we have to acknowledge our mistakes, I say that we do by the laws that we pass and the (court) rulings such as Brown v. Board of Education. We do not have to wear a sign or apologize. We do more good for the world than any other country. We have done more good for the world than any country in history. Have we and do we make mistakes and cause damage; you bet we do. We are run by human beings not by machines (thankfully). I do not think that anyone can name country; past or present, that did what we did in WWII, emancoapte Europe and Asia, rebuid them with loans that did not get paid back (except one country - Finland) and not demand that those liberated countries bow to our demands. Did we support bad people - yes we did, but we also supported people that did good and helped those less fortunate.

I expected what I read hear. The writers on the right seem to think that they were and are immune. They are not. Our leadership on the right (Eisenhower, Nixon, even Reagan along with Bush I and II) made some very big mistakes. Those mistakes shine bright through the lens of history. Seeing the forest from the trees really helps when you look back. And those on the left cannot seem to realize that what has happened in the past is an instrument of that era. An era that we were not part of, but which led us to become the greatest country in the world. Did our Founding Fathers have slaves. Was s;avery bad, of course it was. But in their time that is what they did.

I do not see President Obama demanding that the Arab traders of yesterday apologise for capturing the slaves and having the Dutch start the slave trade with America. I do not see President Obama demanding an apology from the Arab and Muslin lands that still treat womenas chattel and still engage in the slave trade. The left is as guilty as anyon else. The difference is that we respect not our friends and cozy to our enemies. Let a country like Syria do as does Quadaffi in Libya, but not react in the same manner. Will the left apologize for their lack of action? I doubt it.

My ramblings sometimes get the best of me, but almost every writer here has proven a point that I wanted to make. Thank you.

I read through your post three times now and still have not a clue as to your point.

Are you going to answer the question posed to you in the second post of this thread, because I can find no answer in your reply.

Still no answer Vomitus? Come on, a good conservative can back his arguments up with solid facts.
