Why does it seem that people (usually on the left) feel that America 'deserves' to be taken down? In other words, why do people feel thta the world would be a better place if the US is not number 1, but rather number 6, 7, 8, etc?
Who from the left has ever proposed that? If anything the left wants the US to be better than ever, to improve and grow and continue to be the best place in the world to live.
The Boulder mentality I think, where we all love and hug each other and everyone gets the same spoonful of grool, cause most are to lazy to make it on their own.

Personally I think that kind of broad brush approach to labeling the left is propaganda promoted by the right in an attempt to characterize the left in a denigrating way. I still ask.... where has a lefty ever promoted that? And what exactly is the "boulder mentality", and where did you find people who ascribe to that mythical mentality saying they want the US to be #6 or #7 in the world and not #1?
Obama, apologizing and embarrased about America's past, instead of praising our accomplishments. And this continues with the media, NPR is obsessed with remembering America's mistakes like Watergate, Kent State, etc. The Dem blue collar Party of the 50's has been taken over by the radicals who admire Bill Ayers and like people for blowing up buildings.

really? who told you that Obama is embarrassed by America? Certainly not him....please give me some quote by him where he claims to be embarrassed by or for America.
How can we continue to improve America if we don't admit the mistakes of the past?....if you think America is perfect then you have your head firmly planted in the sand. The left doesn't want a stagnant America, and neither do I, I want a growing America, an America that is moving forward, not stuck in the past.....you seem to be advocating exactly what the OP feared, that we as a nation fall behind in the world because we don't grow and improve and get better and better.
What's with the "admire" people who blow up buildings?.....I thought it was the right who admired bombers....of abortion clinics.

Obama ; "No world order that elevates one nation or group of people over another will succeed."
And just how will Obama prevent our country from being elevated over other nations? There's only one way to do this- make America weak.
I lived and worked in Boulder for four years. It was there where I experienced the "boulder mentality". Although it's rather impossible to define it in a paragraph or two- living there for 4 years I know what it is when I run across it.
I spent alot of time around all the leftist freaks- after work each day I would walk the Pearl street mall for excersize- up and down the mall 4 times a day. There's the spare changers, the do-gooders, the lecturer's, the hippie druggies, the rainbows - and then there are the old hippies, the ones that now run the city- once part of the haight ashbury crowd, they are now leftist yuppies, driving volvo's and bmw's. They live in million dollar houses and fancy themselves as changing the world through "better" government.
Been to the parties- heard just about all of it. Boulder city has a regulations book thicker than the phone book- with a rule or regulation for just about everything. About 80% of the rules are not necessary, but try telling that to a former freedom loving & pot smoking granola crunching yuppie from Boulder.
I may visit for a few hours from time to time- my favorite spots because Boulder is not a bad place if one could dis-infect it of the leftist disease, it gets it's real power from the very large college and yearly influx of gullible and influenceable minds every year.
So - I moved back to Jefferson County back when this was still a conservative county- but the boulder mentality is creeping in, slowly but surely.
