So are you saying that you are OK giving your tax dollars to people who are going out and spending it on Meth and Crack? Interesting how liberals think........

Be consistent, if that too much to ask ? One and all. If you drug test every recipient of Gov. dole. I may support it but to single out one group of the dole seems hypocritical. Small Gov, my ass. You just want big gov to enforce your moral BS.

An angry rant does not make your case for you. Especially when it is totally opposite of the truth. First and foremost Republicans want to get rid of Government waste. And giving money to those who spend it on drugs is a huge start. They support the dealers. Which in turn supports crime. Which also costs taxpayers much more money. And on top of that it decreses the value of neighborhoods when people are taking money from the government and spending it on drugs. I gave up an apartment building due to that. My tenants were getting checks from the government and buying Meth like crazy. They didn't pay their rent and I saw their kids going hungry. It was hard for me to throw them in the street with kids who didn't deserve parents like that and did not ask for that life. I use to feed them when I could while their parents kept using because the government kept giving them money. After the real estate market tanked, and I had many judgements against government supported meth users, I finally let the bank take it back for someone else to deal with. They never even tried to get jobs as their drug money was just handed to them. And no one cared what it was being spent on. No wonder under the Liberal controlled congress and President, our deficit has grown faster than ever in history.

Sounds like a personal problem, why should I pay to drug test your bad decision on choosing a tenant? Don't you see the hypocrisy? You made or lost money on your own decision, I have no responsibility to pay to drug test every body you choose to exploit for your own monetary gain.

Ring! Ring!!! Helloooooo this is logic and common sense calling! JMC please pick up!! You are already paying for their drugs!!! What part of that don't you get??? So you get one of two choices. You can either just give money for them for their drugs, or you can pay actual working people to screen them to make sure the money goes to families who will use it to feed their kids and keep a roof over their head. You choose. Personally I would rather the money goes to people who will use it for their families and not drugs. You can stick your head in the sand and say you don't care what happens with your tax dollars and wonder why all the waste is driving up our debt, but most Republicans won't.

You conveniently avoided the question . Are you asking me to pay to protect your rental property from drug using, govt. sucking scum, so you don't get stuck with a bad tenant? Sounds that way to me. DRUG TEST them yourself. Not my job.

My God you Liberals are such deflectors and afraid to commit to any answers. I put one personal story out there and now you are distracted by that.......oh look a rabbit......

Forget my apartments. I asked a question about all the peopl who get welfare who spend it on drugs. (Typing sssslllllooooowwwwweeeeerrrrr for you) Are you OK giving your tax dollars to people who spend it on Meth and Crack? Simple question that I have been asking since the first page. Can't figure out any smaller words so I will just have to hope that one of you can understand the question and be able to answer it with what you think........take you time......

They are already giving $$ to da welfare peeps and you wanna give mo $$$ to test the a holes, so where is your logic? I would like to see them give no $$ at all to anyone. Welfare should go the way of the dinosaur.
You need to prove you can't do some sort of work.

And again, I could care less about my apartments. I delt with that and am fine. I was worried about the kids who I had to help feed because the parent were being given drug money by the government. Or don't you care about them?

It will be interesting to see how many welfare recipients actually test positive, and how much it saves Florida....or if, as I suspect, it will cost the state more to test everyone, then they will save in rooting out the abusers. So what say you conservatives.....if it costs more to weed out the abusers than it saves the taxpayers of Florida, will you still support this initiative? Is retribution against those you think are stealing from the system, worth the money and the hassle for the legit welfare recipients, even if it doesn't save any money and maybe costs taxpayers more?

Finally some sort of answer. I actually agree with you on this. But as was stated before, you have to take drug tests to get a paycheck from the government so why is it different for those getting a check from the government for welfare? Just test everyone who gets a check from our tax dollars.

This sets a dangerous precedent for government intrusion into our lives.

Should everyone that receives any kind of assistance or payment from the government be drug tested? What about social security? Medicare? Tax refunds? Remember, there are those who get refunds from the government even though they do not pay any tax (Earned Income Tax), so of course we should drug test them, right? What about people that receive disaster aid? They should be drug tested, because it's the taxpayers money that is being given to them and they just might spend it on drugs rather than rebuilding their homes, right?

This is just bigger government with more intrusion into our lives. I cannot believe that some of the conservatives here are for bigger government.

Don't give a check, simple. I grew up in the south and know well how they manipulate the system, and how flawed the system is. If FL's govn'r wanted to do something positive he would change the way the system works, not add more government (which don't work anyway).
Testing doesn't get those that go around the procedure.

It amazes me too kate.....how willing conservatives are to spend our tax dollars on stuff they approve of, yet how stingy they are with stuff they don't like. They will be creating a whole bureaucracy in Florida to test welfare recipients, and they may or may not even save any money. Once created a bureaucracy never goes away, as my conservative friends point out frequently. If this doesn't save money, they will look for others to test in hopes of making it cost effective...

Which is the wonderful thing about having 50 test platforms for the best methods of managing domestic affairs and the biggest reason why the "progressive" idea of consolidating into only one has been and will forever remain, a bad idea. If indeed the program raises the cost of the welfare state in Florida, then it can be undone and another method tried. Another state can attempt to find a different solution, or mirror the one in Florida if it proves successful. That is the greatest benefit of having coordinate powers of government where the federal one deals solely with foreign affairs and the member states address the domestic affairs of their citizens.
