Who still writes in cursive?
That age-old writing method you might never have used since fourth grade will no longer be taught in Indiana schools come fall, thanks to a memo from school officials. Instead, students will be expected to become proficient in keyboard use.

I have mixed feelings about this but I suppose it's a sign of the times.

I think it's a bad idea.....everyone should know how to write and read cursive. It's especially helpful for youngsters who tend to reverse letters when printing......it's much harder to reverse a letter when writing in cursive and they get in the good habit of writing letters correctly.

Plus.....I like cursive writing, it's more expressive of a persons personality, and makes for a more distinctive signature. What will these kids do when they have a form that says print your name here.....then sign it. Will there be a difference?

They can sign their checks with an 'X', as long as they have a witness.

Is this like penmanship? Handwriting? Yeah I can still do it. I think everyone should at least be able to read it and sign their name. I still write that way at work in my notebooks. Its faster.

I think there is a font or two on Office word that simulates handwriting.

As a fortysomething, I hated learning cursive, was never very good at it and much prefer the printed word. I love this age where nearly everything is printed, I have a tough time reading many people's cursive writing.

So what if the witness signs with an X?

Cursive is being replaced by keyboards just like math problems were replaced by calculators. Is it just me, or does it seem like humans are starting to transform into organic robots? Conversation replaced by texting, beauty "enhanced" by photoshopping, and all knowledge is available in some form within a shared brain called the internet.

I agree with archer, cursive is a great form of expression, but it's time consuming and takes practice to be legible. Humans, like electricity, strive to finds the path of least resistence and cursive is just another casuatly of that. R.I.P.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.
