If you could make one decision for the president to help promote job creation (remember the government can not directly create a job that we don't pay for)...what would it be? I'll tell you mine if you tell me yours.
The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.
I'd like to see sweeping and broad incentives to small businessess, especially of the local variety (in other words jobs that aren't going to outsourced to India as soon as the company pockets their incentives) to expand their businesses. That would include easier access to business lines of credit, "micro-credit" loans for small-scale start ups (the job you create may be your own!) and tax credits or even tax holidays for new or enlarging small businesses.
Retire early legislation? France and Greece did that to open up jobs for the next generation. I don't know how succesful it was, but it did create massive debt because they were putting people on the public pension plan at 50.
I would spend on infrastructure, but not high priced union labor, I would hire non-union construction companies to take on the projects, and try to discard all the enviromental requirements before work can begin.
A friend of mine is a civil engineer whose company bids on Colorado DOT jobs and about 20% of the bid package is enviromental concerns.
Thomas Sowell: There are no solutions, just trade-offs.
Have a strong positive leader in DC, not a wimpy can't do, whiny, class warfare, negative leader.
Consumer confidence is a big factor in consumer spending. All we hear is negative, excuses, blame, can't do vibes from most of our leaders. We need a Reagan, or JFK, or even a Clinton would be an improvement. :Cheer
Maybe President Doubledip could let Warren Buffett write some of his teleprompter speeches.
Edit - And I thought all Federal spending had to be made in USA, maybe not state?
If you want to be, press one. If you want not to be, press 2
Republicans are red, democrats are blue, neither of them, gives a flip about you.
Some of the ideas posted here would not help create any jobs- like putting more people on social security and medicare, and spending more money on infrastructure.
Those are dollars that cost the producers of this country money out of their pockets. This would not help at all.
What would help- is cutting government spending. Every dollar taken out of the government and returned to the private sector is a dollar that can be used by individuals and business owners to save, spend or invest.
This is what creates jobs. the private sector creates jobs, removing money from government creates jobs. Cutting government creates jobs. Every dollar the government spends must either come out of our pockets in the private sector- or the government must borrow it- which costs us all even more.
Cut government- and that will create jobs now- because investors will see a better business environment- people will invest money here from all over the world.
