Ok, let me get this straight..The Tea Party had nothing to do with this Debt Ceiling Debacle? Those freshman senators in the house had nothing to do with stringing this out to the point of destruction? Is that what youre telling me CG?

CG, I respectfully disagree.... first, Obama had a deal.....Boehner couldn't get it through the house that HIS party controls. How do you blame that on Obama???????

Second, What do you mean that the Tea Party is not the Republican Party? Do they not run as Republicans? do they not primary with Republicans? Are they not listed as Republicans? If they aren't Republicans what are they?

As long as Republicans court the Tea Party endorsement, and cater to them to get votes.....they are as much a part of the Republican Party as anyone else on the right. And the way it is going, they will be the entire Republican party in a matter of years. If that isn't what the Republicans want they need to cut out the tea party cancer before it kills the GOP. But so far you are the only one I have seen who doesn't want the Tea Party to BE the Republican party.

I don't think there is a home for moderate Republicans anymore.....you are either a Tea Party Republican or you might as well be a Democrat, because they will run you out of the party if you don't toe the Tea Party Line. I suspect Mitt Romney will find that out in the primaries......the Tea Party will never let him get elected if they can help it.

People need to take responsibility for themselves. I am so sick of the tea party debate. If you want to blame someone fine. Call them republicans that is what they are.

I won't paint all Republicans with the Tea Party brush, many are reasonable, intelligent and responsible people who just happen to have different views than Democrats. The Tea Party is a whole different story.....and sorry CG, but if you get into office with the Tea Party's endorsement and subscribe to their ideology, then you will get painted with that brush. From the very beginning the Tea Party has done everything it can to bring down this government. ....not change it's direction, or how it does business.....bring it down. And they are doing a damn fine job of it. We are complicit in their rampage through our government because we chose not to see the destruction they are capable of. I only hope it's not too late and people wake up to realize there are real consequences to what they are doing.

You found us out. We have secret meeting where we all pray for anarchy. rofllol

Interesting that you would find the downgrading of America for the very first time so amusing. I wonder how many people will be laughing when the full effect of this hits.

It is typical of the far right thinking......we don't give a damn what happens.....we just want our way, and we will throw temper tantrums until we get it. I don't think the rest of congress is used to dealing with infants.

Libs do the same thing. It is a difference in ideology. But they are not trying to f*** the country necessarily and the dems are not the heros of the world that don't care about money and just want to help the country. They are all the same.

The tea party is not the republican party. If it was, the republican party would be called the tea party. Be accurate.

Just curious, what specific proposal did the Democrats have that would of avoided this credit rating downgrade?

That being said, the Republicans should not of put any tax increase off the table. I don't like tax increases, but in an emergency situation such as this, it makes sense. Especially since we were only talking about going back to Clinton rates for those making over $250K.

And I may of missed it, but which proposal would of saved $4 trillion? The gang of 6? Did the Dems have one?

Also, need I ask, but why does VL's graph only go to 2008? We are over half way through 2011, so please add that to the graph.

You appear very anxious to deflect blame from the tea party. Why, exactly?

Because the tea party is not the republican party. It is an inflammatory term. They are republicans. I do not listen to the tea party they do not run the country.

So what term are we supposed to use for those freshman Congresspeople who call themselves Tea Partiers? To differentiate them from other Republicans I mean?
