The rich are different — and not in a good way...

You assume that we didn't do the same thing... work harder so we could have it too... The difference is we didn't lose our souls along the way...

I would like to say I have pity for you...but I don't. You've earned your hatred, and wallowing in it is the best thing I could think of for you to do.

You think "socialism" is someone or something "taking away" from me... It's not being "taken away"--It's the price I WILLINGLY pay to live in Society. I don't whine and form a pit-Tea-party because I can't have more... I DO continue to work harder to have more...And if that puts me in a bracket where I might have to pay a little more, unlike the sociopathic slugs who say, "then they'll 'work less'", I'll just continue to work harder. Because I don't mind paying it, and I'll expect to earn more as I produce more.

You're pathetic.

Apparently LJ, you and I are the only two people in America who are liberals and have achieved the American Dream, the rest are all living off the taxes of the conservatives.

Obviously, we drive 'em crazy... rofllol

Walsh and Rubio have negative net worth. Seems that the dems in congress are selfish...

Selfish relates to how much you are willing to care about your fellow citizens, do you vote to take away medicare, medicaid, SS, welfare, health care....or do you look for ways to protect those programs and cut spending elsewhere and raise revenue where ever you can. It isn't if you are rich or poor, it's where your priorities lie. I know a lot of unselfish people, both rich and poor, ditto the selfish. What I am seeing is those who want to keep everything they have, and don't care what happens to anyone else, are usually from the GOP......just MHO.

True, they are a bit less ashamed to admit in public who their overlords are - the banks, insurance companies and oil companies. Sad truth is that almost 100% of our government, -D, -R, or otherwise, has sold out to other interests than you or me.

Losers - Capitol "L".

That right there sounds a lot like jealousy.....really pisses you off that we have done so well doesn't it. Wonder where that anger comes from, that hates to see someone who does not think like you, and act like you, doing well. Sad to be you. I hope your anger and bitterness keeps you happy.

You're dead on with that statement........there are very few in or out of power who are genuinely interested in the best interests of this country and it's citizens. And those that are get eaten alive by those who are beholden to special interests.

What is more selfish, living within your means or expecting the next generation to pay for what you spend today?

And what is better for society, a working class guy who gives 10% of his paycheck to charity or rich tycoons like Bill Gates who create products that improve life for billions and then give billions to charities around the world? :pop

Who posted they want the next generation to pay for what you spend today? no one I have read.....did I miss that post? Did anyone say we shouldn't live within our means......I must have missed that post too. I'll go look and see if anyone was bashing Gates for his charity. Not sure what your point about the working guy giving to charity vs Gates is. Perhaps you could clear that up.

If, however, you are talking about how we should live within our means, what would be a responsible approach to balancing our budget and creating a surplus that can be used to pay down our debt....well, yeah, that is a good discussion. Misrepresenting what has been posted by others, not so good.

LOL What a bunch of happy horse$hit Psycho-Babble. Sociology, give me a break. I had to take it as a freshman in college, waste of time BS.

Must have been a stimulus (porkullus) fund study for some over-paid College professor who should be teaching students economics instead of doing BS studies like this.

Did any of you actually read the looney Keltner article from the OP link? He bases his theory on things like rich people are more distracted and fidgeting with their cell phones and doodling, while poor people make eye contact and therefore are more sociable and caring. What a bunch of Psycho-babble.

Here is a newsflash for you. Gates and Buffet and probably lefty Soros too are giving away their billions.

Other studies from other researchers have not produced the clear-cut results Keltner uses to advance his argument. In surveys of charitable giving, some show that low-income people give more, but other studies show the opposite.

“The research regarding income and helping behaviors has always been little bit mixed,” explained Meredith McGinley, a professor of psychology at Pittsburgh’s Chatham University.

Add another to the long list of class envy/warfare threads. Pathetic losers. Next.....

If you want to be, press one. If you want not to be, press 2

How about rich tycoons like Bill Gates who create products that improve life for billions, give billions to charities around the world, AND pay their fair share of taxes on the billions they make? (Hint: Bill does... And Bill is one of those who joins with other "tycoons" in saying that they DON'T MIND paying their fair share of taxes....)

You present a false choice.
