Republicans won't offer rebuttal to Obama's Jobs Speech

Republicans won't offer a response? Duh, they are true Americans watching football and snacking on nachos.

Obama couldn't even tell you who the Green Bay QB is even though he already met him in the Oval Office.

Did Barack tell you that on the phone last night or was it when he was over for dinner?

Well it looks like I was wrong yesterday when I said Obama's plan was to spend another 300 billion, The news coming out today says it's gonna be 400 billion.

Obama is expected to call for more infrastructure building, and my argument has always been that infrastructure spending is at best a zero sum gain.

Conifer Safeway is an example of local infrastructure where a private developer came in and overbuilt retail space that the economy could not support. You can spend all you want building roads and bridges, but if they are not needed then it's just a major waste of money.

We do not need more infrastructure- we have more of it than this economy at present needs- what we need is an environment where small business can profit again, we need lower overhead and fewer regulations.

I heard one businessman this morning mention executive order 13502 which Obama signed - which says that all projects over 25 million dollars must use UNION labor only.

Since 90% of all workers in this country are non-union, this order locks out 90% of all the American workers from federal jobs costing over 25 million dollars.

This is an example of why I do not think Obama is the least bit concerned about creating jobs.

I actually support repairing old infrastructure. AS LONG AS IT ISN'T FOR UNIONS ONLY (which most of Obama's proposals are). You are right Bear....I've been kept from jobs because I wasn't union. That is just plain wrong.

Regarding fixing bridges, schools, etc, we have to repair them some time, now is as good a time as any. Money can be borrowed at record rates for this. I'd much rather borrow for this than to extend the SS 2% cut or more unemployment benefits.

Too bad future generations aren't here to see all the great things we are spending their $$ on!!

Perhaps you should move to a Right-To-Work state.... Texas is... (I hear they have a lot of burger-flipping jobs there...)

When they tried to pass it in Colorado in 2008, apparently 56% of your fellow citizens said "No, thanks..." I guess there are more in Colorado who think it's a bad idea than there are anti-union types that do.

The Market's opinion of Obama Administration policy?

U.S. stocks’ losses intensify after Bernanke

http://www.marketwatch.com/story/us-sto ... =countdown

U.S. stocks declined Thursday afternoon as Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke said the central bank would discuss options to aid the economy when they meet this month.

“Monetary policy has done the yeoman’s work here,” said Hank Smith, chief investment officer at Haverford Investments. “We need a better mix of fiscal policy. We can’t keep asking what else can the Fed do.”

But stock losses intensified after Bernanke did not offer specific proposals to help growth and employment.

I wonder who owns "fiscal policy"?

And that's the problem with adding infrastructure we don't need- it also has to be maintained. Yes- we need to maintain the infrastructure we have already built and we probably don't have all the money we need for that, which is why I would not support building more of it - unless there is an overwhelming need for it. I think many of these projects Obama wants are not needed, and therefore a monumental waste of money.

If Obama wants to create jobs- he would recend executive order 13502 which is preventing 90% of Americans from working on almost all federal jobs- it's discusting. This is the action of a pure socialist.

Fix what we got and need fixing- yes. Build more crap we don't need just for the sake of building it- NO!!

Anyone who has taken a road trip this summer can attest to the need for infrastructure work.....even if we do nothing more than fix what we already have, that should keep a lot of people employed for a very long time. It's shameful how bad some of the interstates are in this country.......and the bridges are no better. Schools? so many need repaair and modernization.,.....it's time to bring this country up to par!

Barack Obama was on a sports program and the host asked him what his favorite baseball team was and he said the Chicago White Sox. Then he was asked who is your favorite White Sox player, he couldn't name a single player.

So I am going to guess either he isn't a real baseball/sports fan or he is so used to evading questions that he can't even answer who his favorite player is.

Well shucks, there ya go. If he doesn't know which baseball player is his favorite on the White Sox then he for sure doesn't know who the QB of Green Bay is......I sure wish more people on this board would take a course in logic.

Government cannot create jobs, they can only create more of the mess we are already in.

It would be interesting to hear what he proposes. But as usual it won't do anything to help.

Construction jobs would take a year or so to get underway.
