Are you suggesting that as an employer I wouldn't have a right to screen out who I want to, including by degree vs. non-degree? Then you must agree that discriminating against people over-40; Muslims; gays; women; etc., are just as egregious. Where does the stereotyping that you approve of stop and the stereotyping that you disapprove of start?
Having a college degree can open the door for you...how you present yourself when you walk through that door will either get you that job or it won't. Most employers want more than just book smarts, but it can gain you the initial interview.

Thanks again for your idiotic rant on what I must agree with. Through it you show your own stupidity. Perhaps you need to learn reading comprehension so you can digest what I actually said verses what you would like for me to have said. It's not even worth responding to such idiotic commentary. But enjoy saying I approve of stereotyping when in fact I said the exact opposite. My question to you is where does rational thought begin?

You know that none of this is debated. I certainly do not disagree with it. What I do take exception to is the misuse of smart. No one is going to get smarter going to university. My cognitive abilities were there before I went to university. But, lets see if we can make the point even simpler by looking at Mozart.
Mozart was taught by his parents, as was the customary procedure in those days.

Often, the children followed in one of the parents footsteps and adopted his or her trade. Here is a man of incredible talent, one needs to be smart to write that kind of music. And, he did it all without going to university. Amazing.
Most would agree that Einstein was smart. His highest education was achieved at the Zurich Polytechnic where he earned a diploma course for teaching physics and mathematics in secondary schools. Obtained diploma in 1900. I'm certain that made him a whole lot smarter and actually allowed him to come up with his theories.

You can believe what you want. To me, college only broadens your knowledge by applying the smarts with which you were born.

Why? Because I had 20 years experience in the Air Force...and because of the work ethic I learned in the Air Force.
No. It's because you are smart and have combined that with experience. At least that is my take. If you were not smart you would not have been able to learn all you did along the way.

"abandon all thought ye who enter here....."
Not entirely sure where it begins - but I think I can reasonably speculate as to where it might end........
For me, with self discipline to ignore. Someone once told me to take a look at the shape of their head and simply forgive them. Not entirely kind I know, but that is where I'll leave it.

I'll bet your education and training that you received in the Air Force probably counted as well...
Probably...but I didn't include a lot of it on my resume...and it was my resume that got me the interview.
My boss is a little different in that he looks at the "whole person"...where they've worked and for how long, their experience, and when he contacted one of the references I gave him, that also held a lot of weight. He has since told me that it was my AF experience for 20 years that really got me the job and had I had a degree it wouldn't have really made any difference.
