Amanda Knox Acquitted, released

I thought it hinged on the DNA, which swayed the first jury, as they were told Knox's and Sollecito's DNA was found on the knife. Turns out it was such a tiny sample as not to be enough to have gotten there except by contamination.

Then there was the problematic (for the prosecution) fact that none of her fingerprints were in Kercher's room.

Likely both withheld evidence (always a suspicious undertaking) and the issues you outline above are major contributors to her acquittal. Unfortunately, she got to spend 4 years of her life in jail.

Unlike Amanda,I'm not sure I would want to venture back to a country where my life hung in the balance.

Americans in a foreign country are targets... Not that the foreign country's police are told to look out for Americans, but because Americans mostly do not know the legal rules in foreign countries, they are easy to trick or "get".

I learned quickly in Turkey a couple of things: 1) If you were in an automobile accident with a Turk (and believe me, the driving over there is scary), the American will ALWAYS be partly at fault...even if in the U.S. it wouldn't have been their fault at all. The Turk's thinking: the accident wouldn't have happened if you hadn't been in their country, so it is your fault. 2) If the Turks know you are American, they will try to "get" you...purposely running out in front of your vehicle, or stopping short so you rear-end them.

Fortunately, when in a foreign country in military uniform, the military is kind of a buffer for legal issues...and there are agreements in place with the host country about what they can and can't do to you.

Beware of all actions and reactions when in a foreign country...especially that you are not innocent until proven guilty...you are guilty until you absolutely prove your innocence.

I do not believe Amanda Knox had anything to do with Meredith Kercher's murder.
