Sweetie you are in the CH. Can't use pics that don't have stars in the S word.

It would be a refreshing change of pace to make a post in the courthouse and debate the finer points on the basis of logic, evidence, and facts. Too often posts in the CH devolve into the same old stuff, nothing productive ever comes out of those posts.

I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

Otis, that is because it's emotional. If there were no emotional investment, it would be possible and for some it is possible to debate rationally. I'm agreed on the huge amount of BS. It's interesting to see people go off on a news article, take it as truth, and suddenly know all the fact needed to condemn someone. Anyone who dares to stand up for allowing justice to prevail is labeled guilty, in denial, etc, etc, because of it. Yes, I really tire of the standard responses that say nothing of value. Aside from the fact I detest politics because it is so corrupt, I detest the lack of independent thought even more. No need for me in the political arena.

At this I would simply add "you're hopelessly f@#ked"......

That's right, I said it and I'm going no holds barred in this, what I suspect is my last post in here unless proven otherwise.

Basically its just a damn shame that I come into this forum, one of which the community I live and CANNOT find civil, productive, debate. To find such a thing I have to go to various other forums on a more broad scale, none of which are specific to the direct area in which I reside. Its amusing and yet ironic that I find more civil and intelligent discussion amidst those society would deem as "thugs, evil, gangsters, criminals", etc. where as I come here to listen to the mountain folk, of which I live, and find elementary school style name calling, pandering, nonsense, and unoriginal bias.

Pretty much every discussion leads to a right vs. left, "no one can think for themselves" discussion because they're too damn busy playing into the hands of a "party" that if they pulled their heads from their asses they might learn there is much to be disagreed with, within their own "label". There is so little field of original thought, and what little there is, is often over-run by the above mentioned partisan crap that usually holds NO bearing on the original post anyway. I find a people already ruled by the ideas and policy of factions they personally didn't create, merely agree enough with to pigeon hole themselves into a spot and somehow believe it.

And I must admit, more recently, there has been the issue of religion that sparked a very emotional response from me, and being who I am, and this my community I find myself hard pressed not to put a bullet in some brains or at the very least introduce some of these assholes to their own gods personally. To them for the time being I offer a great big "f@#K you" say it to my face!" There is a massive and total disrespect from the majority who participate here in the CH, on so many levels. The wife hopes and wishes I do not meet many here in person because I cannot promise I will not allow emotions to get the best of me in certain regards. Yes, this is my own fault for allowing certain ignorant dimwits to affect my self restraint, but so be it.

As of recent I am convinced there is no intelligible debate to be had here without the childish name calling, or partisan bullsh!t and thusly I've refrained from checking in as often let alone posting. This is of no consequence as I'm just one member out of who the hell knows how many, and yet I can't help but think there are perhaps more who won't bother to step forward and share similar concerns. Maybe they've already given up... just a thought. Anyway, that's my $.02 for what its worth, and to answer the question of "Tired of the BS yet?"..... YES, absolutely.... I give up.

Speaking as a poster, and not anything more: we don't need a new forum, it would just be nice if people would post in the appropriate places already in existence. If all you want to to is drive-by trolling, bashing, name-calling, and petty insults, go to the Ring. We even have a thread already started that you can add to! Lets insult each other and a lighthearted Bar Fight where you can blow off some steam.

If you want to have civil, respectful, thoughtful debate, post here in the Courthouse. It's totally acceptable to be passionate, outspoken, strong-willed, and opinionated; but, there's no need to be rude or disrespectful in order to get your point across either. This site was started to allow members a place to post in which the moderation would not be as heavy-handed; however, that comes with a price - it is incumbent upon each of us to up the standard on our own posts and not take personally what someone else may write.

The holidays are fast approaching, cold weather is settling in; this is the time of year when stress and unhappiness ramps up. It is up to each of us to control ourselves. As Badger pointed out, we are a community of mountain folk, essentially each others' neighbors. We pull together during emergencies; let's try to remember that connectedness the rest of the year as well.

Remember too, we have other forums on here - post about your other interests, and see what others have to say as well! If the politics is getting to you, take a break and check out some music, sports, or pictures. See if there's a community event you might want to attend!

"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther

The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it. ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. ~Winston Churchill

:yeahthat:

If you want to call me out and use your best combination of four letter words then let's take it to the Ring. 26 years of active duty makes it hard for me to believe that anyone has a new combination of swear words or insults I have never heard before. Make 'em stick or suffer my retort.

I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

You guys all make great points....I do think it IS possible to treat the Courthouse more like a real courthouse, or at least like a place where we don't have to leave mad every time we give an opinion someone may not agree with. I really do believe the adults outnumber the immature 8th grade mud slingers around here...we just have to be willing to call them out or just stay clear of those threads that are only meant to start fights. Eventually the trolls will get tired of talking to themselves or they will be embarrassed when one of their own shines a light on them. This country will probably never come together unless we are attacked on our soil again, but WE can at least be somewhat respectful to each other.

You'll notice the trolls have yet to comment in this thread yet.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

Interesting point. I have never considered calling out the people on "my side" for their abusive tactics. I don't really know why.

I have been on highly moderated boards and little or no moderation boards and I think 285 Bound is a nice balance. I love to debate and call out the other side when I think they are being illogical, but I try not to take it too seriously, I doubt I will convert anyone here, just trying to defend my side.
