I believe that the people who put the posters on here on "sides" are some of the biggest problem. They turn almost every thread into us vs. them. They do hide in the crowd after they have started the bickering, letting others do their snarking for them so as to not stain their objectivity on the subject at hand. They paint, with a broad general stroke, anyone who disagrees with them, demonizing any opposing viewpoint and using their "victory" to "prove" their "point". Just using the terms conservatives and liberals has almost become baiting at this point.

Well said, and yet ironically it might be a while before many learn how to think for themselves instead of regurgitating a political party or faction's nonsense. For many in here the "us vs. them" mindset is so far driven into them by outside forces that they are completely unaware that its really a puppet master's strings that rule them. America "the idea" has taken root instead of America "the ideas".... the possibility that all or none can be correct if presented in a reasonable fashion and discussed amongst peers.... not foes.

:like: Excellent post. 90% of the bickering is supplied by 3% of the posters. They attack often clearly without having read what was posted. Just the sight of the posters name is enough to incite the spewing of personal attacks. It's discouraging in the extreme. The most important duty we have as American citizens is to educate ourselves so as to make wise choices-not for our personal satisfaction, but for the well-being of our nation as a whole. Lately I get the feeling that many would see the world burn to have their beliefs vindicated.
